The last time we went to Leavenworth was Easter 2 years ago when Sebastian was 1 1/2 years old. We had such a great time, we decided to head back this year with our new family of four.
This year we took the kids to Coates Christmas Tree Farm in Auburn Washington. It’s now become a family tradition to go out and cut our own Christmas tree, the Sunday following Thanksgiving. This year we opted for the majestic Noble Fir. I love the way they look, with a slight blue tinge. It was fun to go out and make a day of it, with our new family of four.
Meet Emmett Francis Hands born June 8, 2018, measuring 8 pounds 11 ounces and 21 inches. We're having fun getting to know Emmett. He is changing every day and proving to be the happiest baby I've ever seen. He's constantly smiling at everything and it makes my heart burst. He is now a little over two months, and I have no idea where the time has gone. I am trying so hard to savor every moment.
To celebrate this occasion, I made my absolute favorite chocolate cake. I have made it so many times, I practically don't need a recipe anymore. It is so easy and delicious and comes out perfectly most each time.
We decided to head out of town for Easter weekend. It was also a good excuse to take our new car on a little road trip! We drove to Leavenworth, one of our favorite little towns in Washington State.
Shall we talk about this cake? I made a four-layer classic white cake using America's Test Kitchen's recipe and a strawberry buttercream frosting from I Am Baker.
We made it a point to visit Ontario for a few weeks to attend a wedding and catch up with our family and friends. We feel fortunate to have both our families near. During our visit, we made sure to meet with everyone and had a great time with them.
He has finally arrived! Sebastian Thomas Hands was born on Saturday, September 19th at 10:27 pm. As predicted by the ultrasounds, he's a big boy weighing 9 lbs and measuring 21 inches in length. Sometimes, when I hold him, it's hard to believe that he was once inside of me. It's an incredibly surreal feeling.
I am pregnant!!!! I still feel so weird to say it out loud, even at 4 1/2 months. I've been pretty reluctant to tell people the news, after suffering a miscarriage last September. I am still in shock and disbelief that there is a tiny person living inside of me. I still get nervous at every doctor's appointment when they look for the heartbeat.
